Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) popularly known as drones have gained popularity in Africa as they are used widely in the movie industry to shoot aerial views.
These aircrafts piloted by remote control or computers have been transformed in some few countries to address real-life challenges.

The cutting-edge research on drones for humanitarian work was given a boost after the launch of Africa’s first drone testing air corridor in 2017 to test the use of drones in humanitarian missions.
This was built in Malawi in partnership with UNICEF to be used as a test site for aerial scouting in crisis situations, delivering supplies and to boost internet connectivity.
