Aside from being the most populous Black nation and having the largest GDP in Africa, Nigeria is also the home of many African billionaires and multi-millionaires, including Aliko Dangote – the richest Black person in the world. These billionaire and millionaire entrepreneurs are creating wealth through different economic sources within the states in Nigeria and beyond.
Anambra State in Nigeria has the highest number of wealthy business tycoons in Nigeria, and the state is home to the largest market in West Africa – the Onitsha Main Market. Anambra State is also home to the largest automobile spare parts market in West Africa – the Nkwo Nnewi Market also referred to as the ‘Japan of Africa.’ Nnewi City is the hub of automobile spare parts dealers and motorcycle and spare parts manufacturers. It is also the home of the first indigenously-owned car assembly plant, ‘Innoson Spare Parts,’ which later transformed into manufacturing of vehicles and vehicle parts, now known as ‘Innoson Vehicle Manufacture,’ the first indigenous vehicle manufacturer.
Anambra State is located in the Southeastern region of Nigeria and is the commercial center of the South East and the wealthiest state in the region. Anambra state was first formed in 1976 from the northern half of East-Central state, and in 1991 it was reduced in area by an administrative reorganization that created the new state of Enugu. The state is entirely made up of the Igbo tribe, the tribe that makes up the entire five states in the South East region. The Igbo people are renowned for being very industrious with unprecedented natural business acumen.
The Igba-boi system of education (4 – 7 years apprenticeship program) developed by the Igbo people is an effective, formative, and result-oriented business skills acquisition program handed down from generation to generation and still practiced throughout the five states in South East. The business-formation program is the framework that has continually raised thousands of wealthy businessmen in Anambra State and the other four states (Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo) in the South East.
