The Golden Globes nominations for 2023 were released on Monday, and as usual, there were some snubs and surprises. Winners of the awards will be disclosed on January 10 from the Beverly Hilton on NBC and Peacock.
The HFPA-backed Globes return to the air after NBC declared that it would not air the telecast in 2022 following a scandal. In February 2021, a week before the 78th Golden Globes broadcast, a Los Angeles Times exposé showed that there were no Black members among the 87-member votership of the HFPA (The Hollywood Foreign Press Association). The HFPA subsequently faced backlash from scores of film professionals, including Ava DuVernay, Tom Cruise and Scarlett Johansson.
NBC indicated early this year that the Globes would return in January after the HFPA introduced reforms including boosting the racial diversity of its membership.
