Carnaval de Ponce
Carnaval de Ponce (Carnaval Ponceño) is a week-long festival which ends on Ash Wednesday.
The parade is held with live music, a parade for the King and Queen of the Carnival, and the Burial of the Sardine to symbolize the ridding of sins and welcoming the season of Lent. There is also food and drink in abundance during the festival which is described as another version of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival, and the Carnival of Venice.
It will take place from February 7 to February 13. 100,000 guests are expected for this year’s festival.
