A growing number of African thought-leaders have given TED Talks. Did your favorite innovator make our top five list?

They inspired us, they unified us, they motivated us.  These TED Talks, delivered by African thought-leaders and visionaries, became a sensation on the world stage, challenging long-standing ideals and perceptions about Africa and bringing hope to a new generation of young people determined to change its future.

Launched in 1984 in the United States, TED is a global conference where some of the best and brightest minds from around the world share their thoughts on a wide range of topics. In 2007, Africa hosted its first TED global event in Arusha, Tanzania.

Several Africans took to the stage at that event, and many others have done so in subsequent TED events, sharing with the world their inspiring stories and revolutionary ideas for a better Africa and a better world.
