Seeds
Africans have eaten seeds since eternity. Among the most popular in West Africa are egusi/agushi, the seeds of a certain squash, melon and gourd. It is a major ingredient in West African cuisine and is grown widely in Ghana, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Mali, and Burkina Faso. Like nuts, seeds are extremely high in protein and fat and must be eaten in moderation.
