Lotoko

Lotoko is the homebrew available in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It is made with mashed corn or cassava or plantains.

When made with corn, the excessive levels of methanol can be fatal.

Lotoko is made and sold as a viable source of income by working women in DRC at the detriment of those addicted to alcohol.
