Though Nigeria has ample and arable land that can produce tomatoes, the West-African country still imports the vegetable.  Nigeria also imported 189.5 tons of tomato paste in the 2016-2017-year span.

There was also a ban on barley with hopes of boosting the use of local sorghum, as reported by The Conversation.
