Women’s Museum & Art Centre – Gambia

Opened in February 2010, the Women’s Museum & Art Center was started by Gambian artist Mrs Isha Fofana. Dedicated to women, the museum exhibits sculptures, paintings, and installations from artists working in the West Africa sub-region. The museum does not only give a glimpse into women in the Gambia but also women in West Africa. Located in the village of Batokunku in Kombo South, it is one of the most visited tourist sites in the Gambia. It also has an artist residency for women artists and lucky visitors can see artists at work.
