During a discussion on the IMO podcast, which she co-hosts with her brother, former first lady Michelle Obama revealed that she was “so glad” she didn’t have a son, as he would have had a striking resemblance to her husband.
Michelle, 61, and her husband Barack, 63, share two daughters: 26-year-old Malia and Sasha, 24. And though they did not throw a son in the mix, it appears Michelle has no issues with that.
“You should’ve threw a boy in the mix,” radio host Angie Martinez told Michelle in the episode that was released on Wednesday, The Hill reported.
The topic in question sprang up as Michelle, along with her brother Craig Robinson and Martinez, were talking about how society perceives masculinity and the difficulties of nurturing young boys and men.
“I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy,” Michelle stated before Martinez jokingly asked why she and her husband “didn’t you throw in a third?”

“Because he would’ve been a Barack Obama,” Michelle jokingly responded. “Baby Barack — it would’ve been amazing!” Martinez also said. “Ooh, no, I would’ve felt for him,” Michelle stated.
“She just borrowed our boys,” Robinson said in reference to his children. “I got plenty,” Michelle added.
Michelle and her husband Barack are proud parents who are very outspoken about their daughters. “I’ve loved every phase of parenting: I loved them when they were little babies, I loved them when they were walking and starting to talk, the teenage years were interesting in the White House,” Michelle said.
“But I’ve loved every time with them — and watching them become their own people and make their own choices, and figure stuff out, and call me after they figure stuff out.”
