Yam

The starchy vegetable referred as Yam is eaten throughout Africa, albeit there are different variations of it.

The origin of the word is speculated to come from more than one language.

Yam can come from the Fulani word Nyami which means tuber or Anyinam which means Yam in the Twi language.
