Bobo-Dioulasso Grand Mosque
To experience a true representation of ancient Sudano-Sahelian architecture, you need to visit the grand mosque in Bobo-Dioulasso, the second largest city in Burkina Faso after Ouagadougou.
The mosque was built during the the 19th century as a product of a political agreement made between the local king and Islamic religious leaders. The Bobo-Dioulasso Grand Mosque is made of wooden sticks and mud, and repairs are done annually to keep it looking fresh.
