Julia Scott, a seven-year-old entrepreneur, spent the summer operating a snow cone stand in her Atlanta neighborhood. Familiar with the concept of charity from a young age, she donated to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in Brookhaven, her birthplace, using the money she earned.
The seven-year-old learned about philanthropy and the thrill of giving from her mentor Kalea Hunter. She and her younger sister Hannah Rose support the idea of doing what you love.
In a sincere gesture of gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff who cared for her over the years, Scott gave $350 to the hospital out of the profits from her business.
The young philanthropist said of the hospital staff to WSB-TV, “They’re so kind. It’s just amazing there.”
After experiencing multiple hospital stays due to her premature birth, Scott wanted to express her gratitude for the care she had been given.
Her mother, Karen Kenner Scott, also remarked, “Having a relationship with doctors, nurses, and people at the front desk who really care for children has been so important. She feels that.”
Scott, who will turn eight years old soon, intends to carry on her yearly snow cone fundraising campaign.
