Knighted by the Royal Family
Elba was appointed Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in the 2016 New Years Honors for his services to drama. A designation presented to him by Prince Williams, Elba took his mother along to experience the Buckingham Palace ceremony.
