The Wiz

This fantasy/action movie released in 1978 starred Diana Ross and a young Michael Jackson. It is basically a “black” version of the classic Wizard of Oz story. A Harlem schoolteacher (Diana Ross) attempts to save her dog from a storm, but she gets whisked away to an urban fantasy land called Oz. She mistakenly kills the Wicked Witch of the East upon her arrival but was told about the Wiz, a wizard who can help her get back to Manhattan. Her search for Wiz got her into contact with Scarecrow (Michael Jackson). Watch for more.
