American music star A$AP Rocky has been named the first creative director of Ray-Ban less than a week after he was found not guilty at a jury trial in Los Angeles.

Rocky, who is also Rihanna’s husband, is already on to business after a devastating set of months threatening his reputation and family’s wellbeing.

On Tuesday in Los Angeles, the fashion magnate was found not guilty of firing a handgun amid a beef with former friend A$AP Relli in 2021.

Only days after, A$AP Rocky was named creative director of the luxury brand and is now the first in the history of Ray-Ban.

Ray-Ban will have Rocky take up the task of  bringing “his distinctive vision to Ray-Ban Studios, leading the line for creative efforts and determining what the brand’s image and design would look like in the future”

According to reports, Ray-Ban is expected to unleash the Blacked Out Collection in April under Rocky’s watch.

The range is set to be a new design of the Mega Icons line complete with a new type of lens.

Other creative designs are expected to roll out in the next months as A$AP Rocky oversees the creative projects of Ray-Ban.

Ray-Ban studios, the creative platform of the firm that was launched in 2016, is centered around a lens that mixes the power of artist’s stories and the influence of music.

“I’ve always admired Ray-Ban’s ability to stay true to its roots while constantly evolving,” A$AP Rocky said in a statement.

“I’m excited to be part of the strong heritage and develop the next chapter for an iconic brand like Ray-Ban.”

Ray-Ban president, Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, lauded Rocky’s abilities, saying: “Let the future begin,” a statement that holds more weight in the wake of his acquittal.

“For nearly 80 years, the brand has been on the faces of the most iconic musicians, artists, actors and heroes — shaping and re-shaping the status quo, leading cultural revolutions of all the times. Today, we are welcoming A$AP Rocky into our family; he’s a visionary artist and creator. His ability to push the boundaries of the diverse worlds he explores, aligns with the Ray-Ban DNA. We are reinforcing the brand’s values of innovation, pioneering spirit, and courage,” Del Vecchio said.

During his trial in Los Angeles, A$AP Rocky, who is originally known as Rakim Mayers, was seen outside the courthouse wearing Ray-Bans and many ensembles by Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello.

The new creative Ray-Ban project is not the only gig A$AP Rocky has got to work on in the coming months.

On May 5, the music star is expected to serve as a Met Gala co-chair at the A-list event along with Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, Anna Wintour and honorary chair LeBron James.

Rocky reportedly also has a new album ‘Don’t Be Dumb’ coming up.
