A former police officer has stated that the nephew of Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the man charged with the murder of legendary rapper Tupac Shakur, bragged about being the man behind the shooting that led to the killing of Tupac for years.

During an interview with DJ Vlad, former Compton Gang Unit Officer Robert Ladd recalled how his agency received evidence naming renowned Compton gang member Orlando Anderson as Pac’s shooter. Ladd further stated that informants put Keefe D and other associates inside the car when the shooting occurred.

“Within the next few days of the shooting, we started getting calls from informants. And our first ones were saying, ‘Hey it’s Keefe [and] Orlando was the shooter.’ They’re telling us that Bubble Up and Big Dre were in the car. This is days after. This is informants are telling us,” Ladd told DJ Vlad.

“And it’s just not us; other people had informants too. [Former Compton Police chief] Reggie Sr., this guy in charge of the narcotics unit, Bobby Baker — they were also getting calls with the same information. So it wasn’t just us getting information about this,” he added.

According to Ladd, Anderson boasted about his participation in Shakur’s death to fellow gang members, repeatedly blaming himself for the shooting.

“We were told that Orlando came back and started to brag about it — not Keefe D, not Big Dre, not Bubble Up. “It was just Orlando. Everyone’s telling us, ‘Orlando’s coming back, he’s bragging about killing them.’ You know, rightfully so, probably. But this is within his own gang. So then the word spread and people start calling us,” he went on to say.

Orlando Anderson has been linked to Shakur’s murder on several occasions, and Keefe D has personally implicated his nephew in the music icon’s death. However, Anderson died in 1998 and was never prosecuted with Pac’s murder.

In 2023, Keefe D was arrested and charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon in connection with Shakur’s death. Keefe D pleaded not guilty and is presently awaiting trial.
