Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush Bags UK Platinum Certification

Afrobeat artist Ayra Starr’s famous songRush” has achieved over 600,000 copies in total sales and streaming, earning her the prestigious Platinum Certification in the UK.

Starr, the crooner of “Sability,” became the first Nigerian female artiste to accomplish this outstanding milestone in the United Kingdom when the British Phonographic Industry formally recognized her with a platinum plaque.

The popular song solidified Ayra’s rising reputation as one of the most sought-after African musicians of the modern era and marked her debut on the UK Official Top 100.

The Grammy-nominated artist reportedly received remarkable recognition for “Rush” in the past, including a Diamond Certification in France in 2023.

When “Rush” was released in September 2022, it immediately became virally popular and peaked in the top 10 in a number of nations, including South Africa, France, and Lebanon.

Ayra Starr’s first Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 66th annual Grammy Awards was influenced by the song’s enormous popularity.

“Rush” has received global praise and commercial success, as seen by its platinum status in Canada and New Zealand and its three-times platinum status in Nigeria, in addition to its recent UK accomplishment.

In other news, this phenomenal Nigerian artist leads the nominations for Africans, earning three nods for the 2025 BET Awards. 

The MOBO award winner, known for such hits as “Rush,” “Ngozi,” “Santa,” and “Commas,” has received nominations in the following categories:
