On Saturday the BBC published a list of five popular African soccer stars who will be contending for this year’s BBC African Footballer of the Year award – a prestigious award given to top African soccer players.
The award, which was previously known as the BBC African Sports Star of the Year and the BBC African Sports Personality of the Year, recognizes the best African footballer as voted by soccer fans across the world.
The voting exercise, which is done via SMS and online, kicked off on Saturday November 11 and is expected to close on November 28. Here are the five African footballers who have been shortlisted for the esteemed award. Who will you be voting for?
