Vogue Magazine isn’t holding back this year when it comes to representation especially the representation of all skin types in different kinds, shades and settings.
Following their groundbreaking covers with South African lawyer and model Thando Hopa, Nigerian actress Adesua Etomi Wellington, models Halima Aden, Amina Adan and Ikram Abdi Omar for the first ever Hijab Vogue cover and black female stars Marsai Martin and Nico Parker for Teen Vogue, the latest Vogue cover celebrates black women with Vitiligo.
Black Canadian model Winnie Harlow who shot to fame in 2014 after courageously joining America’s Next Top Model despite her skin condition joins Saudi Arabian model Shahad Salman as the cover stars for Vogue Arabia.
The two models who share a striking resemblance posed in dripping confidence together to match the theme of this month’s magazine theme “Stronger Together, Women Standing for Women.”
23-year-old model Shahad Salman is an inspiration to several women in the Middle East and looks up to Winnie Harlow for inspiration following her successful modeling career.
The Saudi model also shared an image on her social media in equal excitement.
An excited 24-year-old Winnie, took to her social media to share her latest magazine cover shoot in an emotional post with the very prestigious Vogue Magazine which happens to be her very first just a few weeks shy of her birthday.
Several fans have since flooded her social media with congratulatory posts.
Speaking to Vogue in her exclusive interview, Winnie touched on the need for not only the representation of black women but the important need for black women with skins of all kinds to find an image of themselves celebrated in the entertainment industry.
Speaking about meeting her doppelganger Shahad Salman, Winnie said the two connected almost a year ago after Shahad posted an image of herself and Winnie together. “I’m honoured that girls like her look up to me and I’m happy that we are spending time together here in her country,” she said.
