Beyoncé expressed gratitude to her 7-year-old daughter Rumi for lending her vocals for the singer’s Cowboy Carter album. The trailblazing singer gave her daughter her flowers after revealing she forgot to thank the 7-year-old when she was delivering her acceptance speech for winning the album of the year at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
Beyoncé holds the enviable record of being the most-awarded and most-nominated artist in Grammy history. But she had never been awarded a Grammy for Album of the Year until she received that coveted accolade on Sunday.
The 43-year-old singer later touched on finally winning a Grammy for Album of the Year during an interview with ET, using that moment to also thank her daughter Rumi for her role in the album’s success.
“It’s very surreal, and it’s been 25 years of just working really hard and trying my best to keep growing and keep opening up doors,” the Houston native said about winning the award. “I was just very honored, very honored. I’m happy that my daughter got to see that.”
“[She’s] taller than me, I don’t like it at all!” Beyoncé said about her daughter Blue Ivy. “I’m so happy that she was here and Rumi, who was on the album, my youngest daughter, she was watching. I forgot to thank her, so I can thank her now. Thank you, Rumi!”
Rumi and her twin brother Sir are Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s youngest children. Rumi features on the PROTECTOR track in Cowboy Carter. When the song begins, Rumi is heard saying, “Mom, can I hear the lullaby, please?”
Despite having a very busy professional life, Beyoncé, in a rare interview with GQ last year, said that she builds her work schedule around her family.
“I try to only tour when my kids are out of school. I always dreamt of a life where I could see the world with my family and expose them to different languages, architecture, and lifestyles,” she revealed.
“Raising three kids isn’t easy. The older they get, the more they become their own individuals with unique needs, hobbies, and social lives. My twins are God-sent. Parenting constantly teaches you about yourself. It takes a lot of prayer and patience. I love it. It’s grounding and fulfilling.”
She continued: “My kids come with me everywhere I go. They come to my office after school, and they are in the studio with me. They are in dance rehearsals. It’s natural that they would learn my choreography.”
