Kanye West has reportedly lost a $20 million deal to perform in Japan because of his wife Bianca Censori’s ’naked’ stunt at the 2025 Grammys red carpet on Sunday.
The 47-year-old rapper had agreed to feature in two shows at the Tokyo Dome later this year in May.
However, it seems investors and Kanye’s partners will be pulling out of the deal after his wife pulled the ‘naked’ stunt on the red carpet of the music ceremony, as he was seen standing confidently by her side.
Bianca Censori has come under public criticism on social media since she revealed the outfit, and fans have made it clear the couple’s decisions were ‘utterly unacceptable’.
According to a Daily Mail report, a source involved in planning the shows come May revealed that Censori and West’s actions have not been taken lightly in Japan and could have serious consequences for his relationship with his fans and followers there.
‘Kanye is just ****ing up every opportunity that comes to him. The stunt was creepy beyond belief and has been greeted with horror in Japan’, he said.
‘Japan is having a cultural awakening about women’s rights and the MeToo movement is really strong here. What he did is being seen as an act of coercive control which is utterly unacceptable. He has completely culturally misjudged Japan’, he added.
This revelation brings sadness to Kanye’s camp, as he spent most of his time living in a hotel in Tokyo for many months in 2024.
Reports also indicate that Kanye was in full support of his wife’s actions as a lip reader, Nicola Hickling, revealed he told Censori, wearing a black fur coat over a mesh ensemble with no underwear: ‘You’re making a scene now.’

She then nodded her head and he in turn whispered to her: ‘Make a scene, I’ll say it’ll make so much sense.’ He added: ‘Drop it behind you and then turn, I got you.’ She then tells him: ‘Alright, let’s go.’
Soon after the red carpet walk, West and Censori left the event. However, their actions ignited backlash on social media and could now cost the rapper $20 million.
‘The investors in Japan who are backing the concerts are extremely upset by this. It is highly likely that they will pull the funding for the shows’, a source told Daily Mail.

‘He has greatly misjudged the tolerance of the Japanese people towards these activities. He’s just not welcome any more. This will be a big blow for him because he has been living in Japan for around a year now, almost full time, and I guess he did not see this coming.’
