Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, the older brother of renowned Memphis rapper Yo Gotti, was on Saturday fatally shot outside a restaurant after he attended a funeral service, TMZ reported. The fatal incident is said to have occurred outside the Perignons Restaurant and Event Center in Memphis.

Authorities said another man, who sustained injuries from the shooting, was transported to the hospital in critical condition, FOX13 reported. Mims, however, succumbed to his injuries after he was also rushed to the hospital.

Police said they suspect the shooting was targeted – though they are yet to apprehend the suspects. Authorities on Sunday also said they believe the getaway vehicle the suspects used was a white Ford Explorer. Photos of the car have since been released.

Mims, 47, had a close relationship with his famous brother Yo Gotti, per TMZ. The deceased victim had formal ties with Gotti’s Collective Music Group as he promoted artists the record label had signed and also made cameos in their music videos.

Gotti, whose real name is Mario Sentell Giden Mims, has yet to comment on his brother’s killing. It is also unclear if the pair were together at the time of the fatal incident.

Mims’ killing comes after Gotti’s then-rival and fellow rapper Young Dolph was fatally shot multiple times at a Memphis cookie shop on November 17, 2021. The location where Dolph was gunned down isn’t far from Gotti’s restaurant and where Mims was also shot and killed.
