Haile Selassie
Born Ras Tafari Makonnen, Haile Selassie was an Ethiopian Regent who ruled from 1916 till 1930. He was likened to Jesus Christ of Christian faith and is seen as a Messiah of the African race who will lead a future golden age of eternal peace, righteousness and prosperity by the faithful of the Rastafarian movement.
Haile Selassie is known to have played an instrumental role in the creation of the Organization of African Unity in 1963.
