Creed

The movie Creed got many movie critics and fans talking when it hit the box office in 2015. It tells the story of Adonis Creed, the illegitimate son of heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who sought guidance from the Italian Stallion, Rocky Balboa, and his deafening rise in the boxing ring. This movie has a personal connection to its director, Ryan Coogler, whose father was a huge fan of Rocky’s movies. Ryan also had an emotional connection to the movie because of Rocky’s battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2015, and his father’s challenge with an undiagnosed disease, according to cinema blend. Creed was shown on the big screens to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the opening scene in 1976’s Rocky. It was so impactful, the National Board of Review ranked it as one of the top ten films in 2015, according to Warner Bros.
