During a November 3 discussion on ManningCast, former NBA star and Hall of Famer Charles Barkley confirmed he doesn’t wear underwear, adding that he burned all of them about 30 years ago.
Per PEOPLE, Barkley, 62, touched on the topic when former NFL star and the show’s co-host, Peyton Manning, asked him if that story was true.
“Is it true that you burned all of your underwear almost 20 years ago and haven’t worn any since?” Peyton, 49, asked Barkley, who’s now a basketball analyst and commentator.
The Phoenix Suns legend answered in the affirmative and even provided some clarification on when he actually burned all of his underwear.
“Yeah, I realized that underwear was not a necessity,” Barkley explained. “It was a big fire, too, Peyton. I’m always going commando. I burned all of my underwear about 30 years ago. Like I said, it was a big fire.”
He continued: “So I’m always going commando for the rest of my life.”
Peyton’s younger brother and the show’s co-host, Eli Manning, then jokingly told Barkley that he was going to gift him something, though it’s likely that the latter wouldn’t have any use for it.
“Chuck, I actually got you a gift to commemorate you being on our first-ever ManningCast,” Eli told Barkley.
“I was planning to mail it to you, but I’m sorry I didn’t know the story about you wearing underwear before having these made, but can I still send these to you?” Eli said as he showed a pair of underwear with his face and that of his brother on it.
The white underwear also had “First Manningcast Guest” and “9/13/21” printed on it. The date in question was when Barkley made his debut on the show.
