An officer with Ghana’s Ashanti Regional Police Command and a student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have been arrested after they allegedly gang-raped a female student and recorded the act.
According to 3News, the two suspects, on July 20, allegedly lured the female victim to a hostel outside the university’s premises before they took turns to rape her. They also allegedly recorded the entire act.
The accused police officer was identified as Frank Adu Poku. Both suspects were initially held at different police stations in the Ashanti Region before they were transferred to the regional command after almost a week. That was on the directives of the country’s Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
And though authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident, a statement is yet to be released.
