Inxeba
Also called The Wound, Inxeba is a South African film that explores the Xhosa culture, focusing on the initiation rite called ukwaluka and the mystery surrounding it. It’s storyline followed the queer relationship of the characters.
The film won six awards at the South African Film and Television Awards and a number of international awards, despite the furore and protests it garnered in South Africa for its portrayal of queer love and disrespect to the Xhosa culture.
