The film became Nigeria’s first film to cross the 1million Naira mark, making it the highest grossing Nigerian film ever, at 3.5 billion nairas. It even became one of the African films on Netflix’s roster.
The success of the film led to the production of The Wedding Party 2 a year after the release of the prequel. The film not only did well in Nigeria, it also opened in 17 other African countries and in the UK.
