Rape and sexual assault

Back home in Africa, a Ghanaian maid was beaten up and sexually assaulted by her Arab employer in one of Accra’s estates. The 19-year-old had refused her employer’s advances but he beat her up and raped her. She went ahead to report the case to a nearby police station and her employer was arrested.

In a Saudi Arabia, a Kenyan woman was forced to choose between having sex with her boss or death.  She told reporters that she had only agreed so that she could keep herself alive and get back home to Kenya.

In another case, a Kenyan woman was charged with adultery when she fell pregnant after she was raped by her boss in Saudi Arabia.  The boss had turned tables on her claiming that she had seduced him even though she knew he was married.

Sexual harassment and assault happen in tandem with other abuses and in some cases, it comes from other male members of the employer’s family.
