Comedian DC Young Fly may have lost three family members in a year, but the 31-year-old is staying strong and keeping his faith in God. In an Instagram post on Monday, the Celebrity Squares host revealed his sister recently passed away, marking the death of another family member in a year.
The comedian revealing his sister’s passing comes over four months following the death of his longtime girlfriend and mother of his children Jacky Oh after she suffered plastic surgery complications, Daily Mail reported.
“In a matter of a year I lost 3 people,” the Wild ‘N Out star wrote. “My Kuzzin [cousin] on last august my girl in may and my sister a couple days ago.” Despite the losses, the comedian said he’s keeping his head up.
“U jus gotta stick through the mission knowin that GOD got u and he will grant you the strength,” he added. “Remember he parted the Red Sea not make it disappear .. the problems are still there he jus allowed u to get through it make sure Yu stay righteous don’t hold no grudge because GOD is love and love will always overcome adversity.”
The entertainer’s fans as well as colleagues in the entertainment industry responded to his post with words of encouragement and support. “Love you champ,” Los Angeles rapper Game commented.
“Love and prayers for you to continue to walk and stand strong in your faith,” fellow comedian D. L. Hughley also wrote. Fellow Georgia native and singer Keri Hilson also sent DC Young Fly love. “So sorry to hear DC. Sending love & healing to you. I know you’re strong but I’ll still continue covering you in prayer,” Hilson commented.
“Your Strength and Power Is So Great!!! An Inspiration To Those That Need An Example Of Pushing Through Happiness and Pain…,” wrote DJ Premier.
“God allowed the devil to take everything from Job, knowing that Job would not forsake him. Praying for your heart and spirit strength and resilience. I love you brother so very sorry for all of the loss,” actress and TV personality A.J. Johnson wrote.
The news from DC Young Fly comes after it was recently reported that the doctor behind the plastic surgery that led to Jacky Oh’s death would not face any charges, Daily Mail reported. Sources with the Miami Police Department told TMZ that no charges will be brought against Dr. Zachary ‘Dr. Zach’ Okhah as her death was ruled as accidental.
During an appearance on The Steve Harvey Morning Show, the comedian, whose real name is John Whitfield, opened up about how he was dealing with the unfortunate events in his life.
“There’s no human secret way of dealing with things, especially when real life hits you,” the 31-year-old said. “And I think a lot of people don’t know real life – you make and create how your life can go today, but you don’t know where your life is going to go tomorrow.”
