NBA star Donovan Mitchell showered praises on Coco Jones when he was asked about their engagement and relationship while talking to reporters during team media day on Monday.
Mitchell, 29, and Jones, 27, took to Instagram on July 1 to announce their engagement. The couple has, however, largely kept the relationship away from the public eye.
“Man, that’s my dog. I love her to death,” the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar said about Jones, who is a singer and actress, per PEOPLE. “She’s amazing. She’s an amazing human being. She brings me peace.”
Mitchell also touched on Jones’ work ethic when he spent time with her during her Why Not More Tour?.
“Getting to spend time with her on tour was something that was very unique ’cause you realize that she travels and works just as hard as we do. On the tour bus, up late nights,” Mitchell stated.

“She’s a special human,” he added. “And you see it in her work, and to be able to call her my fiancée, my wife, is a blessing. So, I’m grateful.”
Following their July 1 announcement, the couple’s representatives told PEOPLE in a statement that “after an amazing season and a sold-out tour, Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones took a moment to recharge on vacation, which turned it into a beautiful engagement.”
The statement continued: “The couple has been dating for two years and look forward to building a life together.”
Jones was usually coy about her relationship with Mitchell before they announced their engagement. During a February appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, the 27-year-old explained why she preferred to keep some things to herself when she was asked about their relationship.
“I love the internet because they definitely clocked my tea. I love that. Little spies everywhere. I feel like I’m in a detective movie,” Jones said.
“But you know what, I’m happy,” she added. “And I will say my music is the outlet that I use to tell most of my stories and my truth, and some things I keep for myself ‘cause this is my life, too.”
