Geopolitical Uncertainty

Increased terror threats in Africa have triggered geopolitical wrangles between African countries, which have further led to serious economic disruption. A good example is the latest decision by the Kenyan government to repatriate Somali refugees living in Dadaab Camp to war-torn Somalia, citing insecurity issues.

Other East African countries like Ethiopia and Uganda have tightened security at their border points, which has ultimately affected free movement between countries, placing more constraints on trade interactions.

Given its current economic shortcomings, Africa remains very much vulnerable to terrorism. It is therefore necessary for African governments to form joint strategies and effective policies that will help to address acts of terror now and in the future.
