Family Matters” actor Darius McCrary was arrested on felony charges near the U.S.-Mexico border in California. U.S. Border Patrol made the arrest on October 5.

McCrary is currently held in a San Diego jail and is not eligible for bail, with records listing it as a “fugitive arrest,” according to Fox32 Chicago.

According to his representative, Ann Barlow, McCrary was at the border because he was collaborating with a real estate developer on a project to build homes for the homeless in Tijuana, Mexico.

Barlow stated that McCrary discovered he had a felony warrant for a missed court appearance while engaged in this “good deed.”

She continued, “The missed court appearance was for an ongoing child support dispute, whereas Oakland County mailed the notice to appear to Darius PO BOX giving him only 3 days to appear in Michigan Court. Unfortunately, Darius had COVID therefore did not check his PO Box until the day after his court date.”

“However, he immediately notified the judge with a doctor’s note diagnosis of COVID,” his rep added.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, October 15.

This is not McCrary’s first encounter with legal issues. In 2017, his ex-wife, Tammy Brawner, filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and concerns for their 3-year-old daughter’s safety. People reported that Brawner was granted full legal and physical custody of their daughter in 2019.

McCrary was mandated to complete alcohol and drug abuse and batterers’ intervention classes within a year. He was also granted visitation rights with their daughter and reportedly ordered to pay $1,366 monthly for child support.

In February 2018, court documents obtained by TMZ revealed serious allegations made by McCrary’s ex-partner, Brawner. She claimed he held their infant daughter, then “no more than eight or nine months old,” over a lit hot stove with boiling water.

Additionally, Brawner alleged that McCrary expressed dislike for their daughter and wished he “didn’t have her.” That same year, McCrary denied all claims to TMZ, stating, “None of these allegations are true… I would never do anything to harm my child.”

McCrary is popular for his role as Eddie Winslow in the 90s sitcom “Family Matters.”

McCrary recently starred in the series Monogamy from 2018 to 2021 and also made a guest appearance on American Soul, according to US Weekly.
