African Leaders Challenge Western Authority in Dubai

by Malise Omoloye, 11:26am February 13, 2026,

In this episode of The Breakdown, we examine how African leaders challenge Western authority at the World Government Summit in Dubai. Presidents Duma Gideon Boko of Botswana, Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone and Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe appeared on a panel moderated by Tucker Carlson. Carlson pressed them on China’s role, land reform, migration and democracy. The presidents rejected simple East-versus-West framing. Mnangagwa defended Zimbabwe’s land policy and denied that China replaced Western control. Bio said youth jobs and education reform remain top priorities. Boko argued that Africa’s growth should reshape global power, not copy it. The exchange showed a firmer tone from African leaders and a clear push for sovereignty in global debates.
