Joel Embiid
Like Pascal Siakam, Joel Embiid plays for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association. Born in Yaounde, Embiid looked up to Nigerian NBA star, Hakeem Olajuwon, who was then the toast of the NBA. With the original plan to play professional volleyball in Europe, he began his basketball career at the age of 15. He moved to the U.S when he was 16.
He was discovered at a basketball camp by Luc Mbah a Moute, a fellow native of Yaounde and an NBA player.
