Fans of the rapper have been waiting for a new album from Eminem for a long time—four years, to be exact. Therefore, his lifelong fans were eager to celebrate on social media when he finally released the 19-track album The Death of Slim Shady on Friday, July 12.

A few hours after the album’s release, someone tweeted, “I’m speechless.” Another also tweeted: “25 years later & its a full circle moment. Eminem delivers one of his best albums & showing us what slim shady does one last time.”

Someone who was wowed by the album also added, “he just dropped the best album within the last decade … Your favorite rapper can’t f–king compete,” while someone else raved, “Lyrics, wordplay, message, beats, production, all TOP TIER.”

Even though the album, which comes after 2020’s Billboard-200 chart-topping Music to Be Murdered By, has only been available for a few hours, fans have already chosen a few tracks as their favorites.

Along with previously released songs Tobey, which features Big Sean and BabyTron, and Houdini, there’s the project’s closing, Somebody Save Me, featuring Jelly Roll. However, the poignant Temporary seems to be the most loved song on the album.

It’s safe to assume that fans are emotional after listening to some of the songs. One listener said on X, “After laughing and vibing for 45 minutes, I hear Temporary and Somebody Save Me.”
