In a clip from his Amazon Amp show, the Daily Cannon, host Nick Cannon sparked a debate when he tried to provide proof that Bruno Mars has more hits than Beyonce.

“Have you ever seen Bruno perform live?” Cannon said to his co-hosts. “Fire! ‘Cause he got his whole crew on stage with him and they be doing the little dances. It feels very Morris Day and the Time-ish.”

“I could probably afford those tickets,” co-host Mason Moussette said and went on to highlight the high prices for Beyonce and Taylor Swift’s tours. “See, no offense, but I would rather go to a Bruno Mars show than a Beyoncé or a Taylor Swift [show],” the father of 12 responded to the shock of co-host Courtney Bee Bledsoe.

“Who got more hits?” asked Cannon. “…Beyoncé! What you talkin’ ’bout?” Bledsoe replied while listing some of Beyonce’s hit songs like “Crazy In Love,” “Say My Name,” “Single Ladies,” and “Drunk In Love”.

“I still believe Bruno Mars actually has more hit records,” Cannon went on to say. He was subsequently asked to name some of Mars’ hit songs but he failed to do so.

“Alright we the people would like to release Nick Cannon from the culture. First all these kids and now you saying Bruno Mars has more hits than BEYONCÉ!! MAN WHAT?!” a fan of Beyonce wrote on Twitter.

“I’m with Nick would rather go see Bruno then Beyoncé any day!!” a comment on Cannon’s post siding with him read.

But what do the numbers say? Per Billboard’s Hot 100 chart history for each singer, Beyonce has more hits than Mars, with eight No. 1 songs, 21 top 10 hits, and 81 total Hot 100 singles. Mars also has eight No. 1 songs but with 18 top 10 hits and 32 Hot 100 singles. Beyonce is currently on the Renaissance World Tour to promote her latest album, Renaissance.
