PiggyVest

PiggyVest is founded by Nigerian techpreneur Odunayo Eweniyi. It was inspired by her desire to digitize the offline process of saving in piggy banks or wooden boxes. The firm’s mission is “to give everyone the power to better manage & grow their own finances.”

On its website, it touts itself as the first online “Savings & Investment” app in West Africa. It first launched as “Piggybank.ng” in 2016 as a savings-only platform. It rebranded in 2019 to offer customers other investment opportunities in addition to saving. It currently has over 300,000 active users.

Odunayo is the first child of two professors. Her childhood ambition was to become a medical doctor but dropped it because she felt she didn’t have the empathy to become one. She opted to study Computer Engineering at Covenant University where she graduated on top of her class in 2013.
