Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa – Nigeria

Nigeria’s first prime minister’s rule was marred with allegations of corruption,  electoral violence, political and ethnic unrest. Just six years into his reign, Balewa became the top target of soldiers who conducted the first military coup in Nigeria.

Balewa was kidnapped from his residence and his body was found days later on the outskirts of Lagos, bullet-ridden and at an advanced stage of decomposition.
