Best Ayiorworth, Ugandan – Founder, GIPOMO
Her passion to help less privileged girls in Uganda came after she was forced to drop out of school because her parents couldn’t afford to pay for her education. At only 19, Best Ayiorworth managed to start what would later become one of the most celebrated microfinance institutions in Uganda. Girl Power Microlending Organization (GIPOMO) helps mothers to access cheap loans to grow their small businesses. The organization also ensures that these mothers take their daughters to school. The project has earned Ayiorworth international recognition, including the Anzisha Price for Young African Entrepreneurs in 2013.
