Authorities in Florida said a 39-year-old man shot and killed another man because the victim owed him $3. Per WPLG, the fatal March 6 incident occurred at a J-Mar Food Store at 250 N. Powerline Road.

The suspect, identified as Terry Flowers, is said to have shot the victim five times. The victim was later pronounced dead after he was taken to a hospital. Relatives and a witness said the fatal shooting likely occurred because of an altercation over a $3 debt

The victim was with a woman when Flowers shot and killed him. She said the suspect, who is also known as “Weezy”, confronted the victim two days before he killed him. She also said Flowers was armed with a gun during that confrontation.

Authorities said Flowers was with an accomplice at the time of the fatal encounter, and surveillance video showed that accomplice picking shell cases after the victim was shot. Flowers has since been charged with first-degree murder.

He was being held without bond at the time of this report.
