A Michigan man was shot in the head by a man he said he did not know following a violent accident on December 26. According to ClickOnDetroit, the man who opened fire on Antoine Williams was also involved in the accident, and the shooting occurred after Williams was making his way to the crash site to help them.

The accident, which involved two cars, is said to have happened around the Ford and Venoy roads in Garden City. Following the crash, the shooter and the other driver came out of their vehicles before he opened fire on Williams. The victim was said to be heading to the crash scene to help them.

“I was walking towards the car to help out to help them out,” Williams said. “And guys jumped out the car and started shooting and start shooting in one direction and he saw me start shooting at me and I was like in a trance.”

The crash happened as Williams was making a stop to buy gas before heading to work. The bullet struck Williams’ ear. “I couldn’t believe I just got shot,” said Williams.

In the wake of the shooting, the gunman pursued Williams into the gas station. That incident was captured on surveillance footage, ClickOnDetroit reported. Williams told the news outlet that he thought the gunman was going to kill him.

“I don’t even know this guy. I don’t know him at all,” Williams said. “And he was like, that look in his eyes like he was on something. And he kept on, he pulled out a gun again. And the gun definitely got jammed.”

Williams eventually managed to leave the store before the gunman could harm him again. A Garden City police officer who later arrived at the scene fatally shot the suspect.

Williams and the other individual involved in the crash were taken to the hospital to receive medical aid.
