Formed decades before colonial independence, these are Africa’s oldest football clubs still making waves

Highlanders FC – 1926

Highlanders FC or Bosso is Zimbabwe’s oldest and very successful football club. Known by their nicknames, Bosso, Tshilamoya, Amahlolanyama, Ezikamagebhula, High High, Mantengwane among many others, the club is well supported in the whole of Southern Africa. Founded in 1926 as Lions Football Club, the club plays in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League and has made several appearances in CAF competitions: CAF Champions League, African Cup of Champions Clubs, CAF Confederation Cup, and CAF Cup Winners’ Cup.
