Former NBA player Matt Barnes and his fiancée, Anansa Sims, have announced the arrival of their baby boy, Austin, into their family.

The long-time couple recently welcomed their new son, Austin into the world on Thursday October 3 in an Instagram post that has garnered lots of heartwarming reactions.

“Austin Matthew Barnes. 9-4-24, 8lbs 5oz, 22 inches. Mommy, Daddy, your brothers and sister love you so much!,” read the caption.

Photos of baby Austin quickly drew warm congratulations from fans, and the first image shows Austin peacefully asleep, while wrapped in a soft blue blanket.

Another photo captures Sims holding their newborn as she and Barnes share a tender kiss. The post also includes moments of Sims breastfeeding the newborn baby and Barnes holding his son in his arms.

Sims’ mother, the iconic model Beverly Johnson, also expressed her joy on Instagram about Austin’s introduction to the family, indicating the newly born child as a ‘gift from God’. “Oh my dear Austin… The joy you bring to your Mom, Dad, brothers, sister, and Grandparents is truly a gift. We love you so very much! Thank you, Jesus.”

Austin is the couple’s second child together, following the birth of their son, Ashton Joseph Barnes back in 2019.

Both Barnes and Sims have children from their previous relationships. Barnes has twin sons, Carter and Isaiah, with his ex-wife Gloria Govan, while Sims shares three children with her ex-husband David Patterson Jr, according to an ESSENCE report.

The couple first met at UCLA in the 1990s, but have seen their relationship together on and off for years. In 2022, they got engaged during Christmas and showcased their wedding planning on WEtv’s reality show “The Barnes Bunch”.

The show offers a glimpse into their life as a blended family, which has now grown to nine members after Austin’s arrival.
