Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is wanted by Miami-Dade County authorities for attempted murder after he allegedly opened fire on an unidentified individual during an altercation at a celebrity boxing event, The Washington Post reported.
A judge signed the warrant on Wednesday, and the document indicates that the 36-year-old faces an attempted murder with a firearm charge. It also demands that Brown should be released if he posts a $10,000 bond, but he must be under house arrest pending trial.
Brown is said to have gotten into the physical altercation during a boxing event in Little Haiti, Miami on May 16. The incident happened outside the venue, and police ultimately detained Brown before he was later released after the fight broke up.
The warrant, which was obtained by the news outlet, states that officers arrived at the scene after authorities received a shots fired report outside the venue. An off-duty officer providing security at the venue told the responding officers that he made his way out of the location after he was notified about gunfire sounds, adding that he later saw Brown and another man engaged in a physical altercation.
The warrant states that Brown was ultimately identified as the shooter, though officers did not find any weapon in his possession when they searched him. An empty gun holster and two discharged shell casings were, however, found at the scene.

Prior to the shooting, surveillance footage obtained by investigators seemingly showed Brown landing a blow on another man before a brawl ensued, The Washington Post reported. The footage also seemingly showed Brown reaching for a security officer’s gun and charging at the man he was involved in the fight with. The warrant states that cellphone video showed two shots being discharged while Brown headed toward the man in question. The victim was also seen ducking.
The warrant states that investigators ultimately spoke with the victim on May 21, and he said Brown “began to run toward him” with a gun before firing two shots at him after the fight initially stopped. The warrant states that Brown and the victim fought to gain control of the weapon before officers ultimately responded to the scene. Brown then left, and the injured man also made his way to a hospital to seek medical care. The man also confirmed Brown as the individual in the surveillance footage, adding that he has known the 36-year-old since 2022.
A day after the incident, Brown released a statement on X claiming that he was “jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me.”
He added: “Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED. I will be talking to my legal council and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me.”
Brown was a controversial figure during his time in the NFL, and he had multiple run-ins with the law.
