Conservative South Carolinians
Although polls suggest Sanders is the favorite of blacks nationally, Biden’s support in the south among African-Americans dwarfs any other candidate’s.
South Carolinian African-Americans are ideologically different than African-Americans in California or New York. South Carolinian blacks remember the party that fought for civil rights but it does not mean the people share the Democratic party’s social liberalism.
For blacks down south, Biden’s incrementalist politics is easily contrastable with and preferable to Sanders’ fiery revolutionary politics.
