Nigerian music sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, took to Twitter to congratulate his father, Prince Adedeji Adeleke on the acquisition of a $62 million private jet.
The ‘Risky’ star wrote: “Congrats Daddy on your (our) new baby !!!”
The singer’s billionaire father is a business mogul and CEO of Pacific Holdings Limited and the head and president of Adeleke University.
Davido prior to his congratulatory post announced the purchase of the Bombadier Global Express 6000 a few days earlier on his timeline.
However, it was uncertain if he or his father had made the purchase.
This is a similar scenario that happened two years ago when the Adelekes made a similar acquisition and Davido was very excited then as he is now. According to reports, the 2018 jet was worth $35 million.
Here’s a video of the jet when it arrived in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Davido is also making a name for himself with his music. He recently received a plaque after his latest album, ‘A Good Time’ went platinum.
Davido’s single, ‘Risky’, featuring Jamaican music star, Popcaan was rated double platinum while ‘Blow My Mind’ alongside singer Chris Brown was also accorded platinum.
He shared the video of him receiving his award on social media.
This recognition places Davido in the stead of industry giants; Micheal Jackson, Stevie Wonder,Jay-Z, 50 Cent and Beyonce who have had successful record sales.
The Nigerian star alongside compatriot Wizkid have seen a meteoric rise in their careers since they both penetrated the industry some years back.
According to the Recording Industry Association of America, when an artiste earns a gold and platinum award, he/she joins the ranks of an elite group of beloved musicians.
‘Going Gold’ means the album has sold 500, 000 copies while ‘Going Platinum’ means the album has sold one million copies.
Davido was born in Atlanta, United States into a well known political family of Nigeria. In 2018, his songs, “If” and “Fall” went diamond and platinum in sales respectively.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), stated that ‘If’ has been sold or streamed one million times and ‘Fall’ has reached 10 million record sales.
