Appearance
The Hamars are very particular about appearance. Having a spectacular look gives you an edge over other tribesmen who do not have it. For men and women, hair grooming is essential to the Hamars and their sense of beauty.
In order to have this very unique yet interesting look, the women paint their locks with fat and red ochre and then twist into dreads. Attached to it is the ostrich feathers and other ornaments. For the men, they often pride themselves in killing enemies or animals. To protect their hairdo, they wear mud caps that protect them.
