Hip Hop Mourns as Rich Homie Quan Passes Away at 34

The hip-hop world has been rocked by the sudden and tragic death of Rich Homie Quan at the age of 34.

The rapper, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, was found dead in his Atlanta home on Thursday, September 5, according to his family. The cause of death remains unknown at this time.

Rich Homie Quan, a prominent figure in the Atlanta music scene, was known for his work in the mid-2010s, particularly his collaborations with fellow rapper Young Thug as part of the Rich Gang collective. His breakout hits like ‘Lifestyle’ and ‘Type of Way’ cemented his place in the genre, earning him widespread recognition and respect.

Following the news of his death, the hip-hop community has poured in with tributes. Fellow Atlanta rapper Playboi Carti led the tributes, sharing memories of Quan and acknowledging his impact on the music industry. Carti took a moment to honor his legacy while accepting the Artist of the Year award at a major event in New York City.

Producer Metro Boomin also paid homage, reflecting on their work together, which included hits like ‘Mamacita.’ Metro admired Quan’s musical legacy, stating that the rapper’s work would forever be remembered.

The outpouring of love did not stop with Atlanta artists. Hip-hop legends from across the country, including Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Lloyd Banks from New York, also shared their grief and respect for Rich Homie Quan’s contributions to the culture. Fellow Atlanta stars like 2 Chainz, Killer Mike, and Jermaine Dupri also offered heartfelt support and condolences to Quan’s family and loved ones.

The impact of Quan’s passing extends beyond the music world. The Atlanta Hawks, the city’s NBA team, also acknowledged the loss of a beloved figure in the community, paying tribute to his influence and presence in Atlanta’s cultural landscape.
